Alex Turner has written a movie soundtrack.

The Arctic Monkeys frontman has penned the score for new British film 'Submarine', which will be his first solo record.

The LP will be mixed by Arctic Monkeys' producer James Ford, who has also worked with Klaxons, while the film will be directed by actor Richard Ayoade.

Alex was asked to work on the soundtrack by Richard after he directed the group's tour film 'At The Apollo'.

Earlier this year, Alex revealed there were no plans for him to make another album with his side-project The Last Shadow Puppets.

The 24-year-old singer recorded debut 'The Age of the Understatement' with musician Miles Kane in 2008, but admits it is unlikely they will follow-up the critically acclaimed LP.

When asked if the band had plans to record any more material, he said: "I wouldn't have thought so, no. Miles has just kind of completed his new record, so that will sort of tie him up for a bit I think. Yeah, I don't think so."
