Alexa Ray Joel collapsed inmid-performance while onstage in New York City on Saturday night (April 12th).

The 28 year-old singer/songwriter was performing to a sold-out crowd at the Café Carlyle when she fainted and was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Doctor's quickly diagnosed what had caused Joel to pass-out, she suffers from vasovagal synocope-a condition that blocks blood from properly flowing to the brain.

The daughter of Billy Joel and ex-wife Christie Brinkley, does not require any further treatment for the condition, and is currently resting.

"I wanted to thank everyone for coming out to support me," she said in a statement to People.

"I was excited and determined to fulfill my final performance and I really wanted to end my run with a bang, but this was not what I had in mind and hope I have the opportunity to make it up to the wonderful audience very soon," she added. "Thanks for all the concern."

Joel wasn't feeling very well before she took to the stage on Saturday night, but she didn't want to disappoint the gathered fans and therefore decided to go ahead with the show.

"Ms. Joel was taken ill earlier in the afternoon and announced from stage that she pulled out her back and neck, but wanted the show to go on," her rep told the mag.

Earlier this month Joel had received a rather large amount of attention from the media after recent photos of her performing showed how grownup she has become. Rumors quickly began circulating that claimed this was the result of many cosmetic procedures, but at the beginning of this month Joel put to bed all of this unnecessary speculation.

"I have only gotten one nose-job done," she told Us Weekly. "That is the absolute extent of the surgeries I have had. I'm very sorry to disappoint everyone who wants to believe that I have had multiple surgeries, but that just simply isn't true." The only "secret" to her good looks, she added, is "makeup and a push-up bra."#
