Alexander Wang has set fashionista hearts a flutter with the announcement of his first collection for high street chain H&M. The New York born designer revealed by way of Instagram that ‘Alexander Wang x H&M’ will hit stores on November 6th, marking the first time Wang has teamed up with a high street store to bring his designs to the masses.

Alexander Wang will be following in the very stylish footsteps of designers Isabel Marant, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson and Versace who have all launched collaborative collections with H&M. The high street chain has in recent years become known for its high profile designer partnerships, bringing high fashion to the high street and keeping prices affordable.

Wang said of the collaboration, ‘‘I am honoured to be a part of H&M's designer collaborations, the work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to pushing boundaries and to set a platform for creativity.” The designer added, “this will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.” His comments were echoed by H&M’s creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch, who said "Alexander Wang is one of the most important voices in fashion today, he understands exactly what people want to wear and does it with an energy and passion that's infectious.”

Indeed Wang is known for brining street wear to the catwalk with his sportswear inspired creations. ‘Alexander Wang x H&M’ will be made up of men's and women's clothing, as well as accessories. The designer is known for his love of monochrome, with greys often featuring heavily in his collections. Expect his H&M collaboration to be the most stylish casual wear on the high street. Mixing wearable fabrics and designs with a few stand out pieces that are bound to cause a rush to the stores. His recent ‘Parental Advisory’ sweatshirt, became a must have item and we can only imagine him to replicate its success with another stand out piece. The designer also favours statement shoes, so the collection is bound to be heavy on investment footwear pieces.

The 30 year old, who is currently the creative director for Balenciaga, is the first American designer to team up with the Swedish fashion label. After announcing the collaboration through an Instagram video which featured a basketball scoreboard showing a digital countdown to the "Wang X HM" launch. Later Wang celebrated his new partnership with a party at the Coachella festival featuring acts such as Iggy Azalea.

H&M’s designer collaborations are always full of must have items, but this might be the one we’ve most excited about.
