Finally! Charlie Hunnam Addresses His '50 Shades' Role As Cast-Change Petition Reaches 75K Signatures

Charlie Hunnam Matt Bomer Alexis Bledel Dakota Johnson Sam Taylor-Wood E.L. James

If the prospects of having to get his kit off many times on screen as well as learn how to deftly wield whips and paddles may have flustered Charlie Hunnam, the actor who'll play Fifty Shades of Grey's Christian Grey, then the news that over 75,000 furious 50 Shades readers had taken their discontentment towards him playing the lead male role to Change.org to demand a casting reshuffle, should by rights make him feel practically terrified.

Charlie Hunnam
Charlie Hunnam Is Confident In His Acting Ability & Interaction With Dakota.

However, it seems that the 33 year-old English actor could not be more confident in his skills, and quite probably takes all the petitioning and hate tweeting as a challenge to be the best Grey possible. Describing his experience of the hotly anticipated adaptation of EL James' erotic trilogy so far as "exciting and fun and weird and compelling," there's little sense of fear or trepidation in Hunnam's words as he talks to Hollywood Life.

"I'm so grateful for the fans and I'm touched," said Bomer, speaking via Entertainment Tonight. He added "I'm looking forward to seeing the movie with Charlie and Dakota [Johnson]," perhaps in an attempt to calm the sea of rage that seems to be surrounding the casting of two relative unknowns in the adaptations of author EL James' erotic fiction series.

Fans may have their own ideas about who should portray the characters of E.L. James' bestselling series. However, it seems unlikely anything will change despite the outcry. The film's producer, Dana Brunetti, has defended the casting; tweeting in mock surprise of the negative comments. He went so far as to accuse those attacking the casting decision of not being "true fans".

"That's So Wrong!": '50 Shades' Movie Casting Choices Creates Reader Backlash

Dakota Johnson Charlie Hunnam E.L. James Sam Taylor-Wood Alexis Bledel Matt Bomer

They once read Fifty Shades of Grey secretly on the train using Kindles, but now the readers of EL James' notorious "mommy porn" erotic trilogy have stood up and banded together in sheer outrage. With all page-to-screen adaptations, there will always be those who think "I didn't imagine that character to look like that actor," and maybe grumble about it amongst their friends or on the murky depths of a fan forum. However, 50 Shades fans have launched a petition for the male and female leads - Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson - to be changed.

For Some Reason, Many Fans Aren't Digging Dakota Johnson.

The furious petition, launched on Change.org, has now gathered 23.5K supporters who feel that White Collar's Matt Bomer and Gilmore Girls' Alexis Bledel should take the main roles of kinky billionaire Christian Grey and student-turned-sex-slave Anastasia Steele. It's perhaps true; Bomer and Bledel do perhaps fit EL James' character descriptions a little better than the (both blonde) Hunnam and Johnson so there's little wonder as to why these actors were imagined when 50 Shades fans were reading.

'Fifty Shades' Favorite Alexis Bledel Engaged To Mad Men Co-Star Vincent Kartheiser

Alexis Bledel Vincent Kartheiser

Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser, who engaged in a steamy on-screen affair on AMC's Mad Men, are getting married in real life! 31-year-old Bledel and her 33-year-old beau went public with their relationship back in October, looking very much in love, and it appears the couple are ready to take their romance to the next level.

A representative for the couple confirmed the engagement news to E! online after Us weekly had dropped the exclusive. A source told the magazine that Vincent - who plays ad executive Peter Campbell in Mad Men - "proposed a few weeks ago," and that the ring is "huge." Bledel played an unhappy housewife in the multi-award winning series, though seduced Kartheiser's character after he begins to do business with her husband. Though Bledel landed the Mad Men role following her stint on Gilmore Girls, bigger things could be on the horizon for the San Francisco native. Bookmakers have her as the big favorite to play the submissive Anastasia Steel in Universal and Focus Films' adaptation of E.L James' controversial novel Fifty Shades of Grey. Shailene Woodley was considered her nearest rival for the part, though took the lead role in Fox's 'The Fault In Our Stars' earlier this week. Emma Watson and Mila Kunis have both talked down the chances of them playing Steele. The movie, which is likely to star either Henry Cavill, Alex Pettyfer or Ryan Gosling as Mr Christian Grey, will go into production this summer.

We here at Contactmusic.com wish both Bledel and Kartheiser the best!

Mad Men Romance: Vincent Kartheiser And Alexis Bledel Engaged

Vincent Kartheiser Alexis Bledel

Mad Men’s on-screen lovers Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel may have had an ill-fated affair in the popular series, but off-screen, they are madly in love with each other and according to Us Weekly, the couple recently got engaged. Alexis, 31 and Kartheiser, 33 started dating early last year and recent reports suggest that all is going swimmingly for the couple, as they prepare for life as husband and wife.

“Vincent proposed a few weeks ago,” a friend told the magazine. “She’s been wearing her ring, it’s huge!” Another source had also confirmed “they couldn’t be happier. A third commented that they are “so cute together.” Bledel and Kartheiser are no strangers to the world of celebrity relationships, even if this will be the first trip down the aisle for both of them. Bledel previously dated her on-screen love interest in Gilmour Girls, Milo Ventimiglia, whilst Kartheiser used to date the actress Rachael Leigh Cook.

We’re not sure how long the couple are planning on staying engaged before they officially tie the knot but Vince currently has two projects in post-production, one a drama called Red Knot and another entitled Beach Pillows. Meanwhile, Alexis has four productions on the go, Remember Sunday, Parts Per Billion, Friends & Family and The Letters. We’re pretty sure that between them they’ll manage to find a gap in their schedules to walk down the aisle.

If Emma Watson Isn't Doing 'Fifty Shades Of Grey,' Then Who Is?

Emma Watson Kenneth Branagh Alexis Bledel Shailene Woodley Henry Cavill Alex Pettyfer

Emma Watson is officially out of the running to play the submissive Anastasia Steele in Kelly Marcel's adaptation of the S&M novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' Watson - who, of course played Hermione Granger in Harry Potter - has long been considered one of the favourites to play the female lead in theUniversal and Focus Pictures movie, though she shot down the rumors in a couple of posts on her Twitter page this week. Watson, who recently turned down the opportunity to play Cinderella in Kenneth Branagh's upcoming Disney movie, started off by telling followers, "Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life."

After encouraging her fans to respond, Watson presumably got few affirmative replies, or plenty of tweets warning her off the project, tweeting, "Good. Well that's that sorted then." The nature of her tweets suggest Watson has been approached by Universal about playing Anastasia and it's likely she would have been the studio's first choice. "I haven't read the book, I haven't a read a script, nothing," Watson told EW.com in July 2012, "There are so many movies you become attached to when I've literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' - I never even saw a script!"

The Fifty Shades movie remains without a lead actor, actress or director, despite Universal's hopes of releasing the film in summer of 2014. Shooting is likely to go ahead within the next couple of months, though Watson ruling herself will have given producers a potential headache. Is she isn't playing Steele, then who is?

No, Mila Kunis Won't Be In 50 Shades After All

Mila Kunis Emma Watson Alexis Bledel Anna Kendrick

The rumor mill has been working overtime of late, especially concerning the film adaptation of E. L. James’s 50 Shades of Grey – notably, whether Mila Kunis will possibly be taking on the main role.

Nearly every actress in Hollywood, who is the approximate age of the main character (Anastacia Steele) that is, has been rumored to be considered for the part. A lot of speculation centered around Emma Watson’s possible involvement in the project, however those tongues have been silenced by the actress herself vehemently denying it.

Now, however, another burst of gossip has erupted, after The Sun quoted Kunis herself as saying that she would love to do 50 Shades. The exact quote, published by the tabloid, reads: “There are times when you just want to do something fun and different, because you’re going to have a good time doing it.”

Bride & Prejudice Review

Bad

If nothing else, "Bride and Prejudice" proves that the silly, ingenuous charm of Bollywood musicals becomes tedious andeven downright dumb in English.

A cross-cultural adaptation of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" set in modern-day Bombay, London and Los Angeles, thisis a trite, flimsy, groundless romance of shallow character stereotypes, ethnic hypocrisy, and horrible songs. But it does have one saving gracein talented, stunningly beautiful Indian superstar Aishwarya Rai.

As Lalita, the most independent and worldly of five sisterswhose largely traditional parents have begun trying to marry them off,Rai has a radiant screen presence as she stands in for Austen's heroineElizabeth Bennet. But she doesn't have much to work with except personalitycontradictions that betray a one-dimensional script -- and a suitor whois nothing short of insufferable, played by an actor without the chopsto reveal his unsuspected depth.
