Alfonso Cuaron's 'Gravity' is at the forefront of Oscar predictions.

The ''spectacular'' sci-fi flick which made its debut at the Venice Film Festival last night (28.08.13) is anticipated in the line up for a number of categories at the Oscar Award ceremonies since critics have been raving about the film which has managed to score a perfect 100 score on review website Rotten Tomatoes.

'Gravity' stars Sandra Bullock as scientist Dr. Ryan Stone and George Clooney as astronaut Matt Kowalski, who are stranded in space.

Clooney's performance in the film has critics helming him as realistic yet entertaining.

Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter writes: ''Clooney supplies both manly reliability and welcome lightness as a guy anyone would want in their corner in a pinch, while Bullock is aces in by far the best film she's ever been in.''

According to the Guardian newspaper Bullock's performance outshone Clooney and she is set for Best Actress nomination.

The Guardian reported: ''Despite her and Clooney's apparently equal billing, Bullock is most definitely the lead; she ought to be a shoo-in for a best actress nom, especially as she spends much of the movie completely on her own.''
