The School's Out hitmaker takes on the roles in both Peter and Wolf in Hollywood, a madcap take on composer Sergei Prokofiev's children's symphony about a young boy's attempts to capture a feral beast.

The album's story will be set in modern-day Los Angeles, and features a helicopter chase. It will also include a prequel to the story with music by composers including Edward Elgar, Giacomo Puccini, and Edvard Grieg, all played by the German National Youth Orchestra.

Cooper says "I first heard this back in Detroit, when I was six or seven years old. My mum put the record on and I was instantly transported to another world, and it has been huge fun for me to do something new after nearly 50 years in the business.

"I love the fact that it's moved on, and that Peter has come to Los Angeles to meet his grandfather, who turns out to be an old hippie! That gives the story a fresh dynamic. And I like that he's not in the least bit terrified by the wolf, when everybody else is freaking out."

The album is released on 13 November (15) along with a specially designed iPad app featuring live animation for young children.
