Aloe Blacc releases his single 'I Need A Dollar' on 1st May 2011 through Epic Records. This is the first single from Aloe's album 'Good Things' which will also find a UK release through Epic - in the states the album was released on the popular indie label Stones Throw.
Blacc wrote the song after losing his job, he was inspired by field recordings of chain gang songs and now the song has become an anthem to the recession, Aloe Blacc explains: "It's super ironic,' he says, "but it makes so much sense. Hip Hop songs were still talking about being rich and on top of the world. The theme of this album is a discourse about capitalism in America."
The end of April will see Mr Blacc play a few select shows in the UK including a headline slot at Live At Leeds held in Leeds city centre on 30 April 2011.
