Veteran British pop star Alvin Stardust's first album in 30 years is set to be released a week earlier than planned following the singer's death on Thursday (23Oct14).

The My Coo Ca Choo hitmaker, real name Bernard William Jewry, had been preparing to make his pop comeback early next month (Nov14) with the release of Alvin, but fans will now be able to purchase the new material from next week (begs27Oct14).

A statement issued by his label bosses at Conehead reads, "(The album is) a worthy testament to a talent that endured, and a reputation that will continue even after his death...

"It's a reflective, speculative and deeply personal album that beguiles with an open honesty that recalls the best of the singer-songwriter genre."

Stardust's last album, I Feel Like..., was released back in 1984.
