Amanda Bynes' personal wellbeing is vastly improving.

The former Nickelodeon star is on the road to recovery after coming out of a near-6 month stay at a rehabilitation clinic late last year.

But Bynes' mother insists her daughter was never treated for mental health issues, despite it being heavily reported that she was suffering from schizophrenia.

"Amanda has no mental illness whatsoever," Lynn Bynes has stated to E! News. "She has never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar."

The 'She's The Man' actress has a history of very erratic behaviour, which includes a DUI charge, posting several bizarre and insulting tweets, and an offense for tampering with physical evidence after throwing a bong out of her apartment window in NYC.

The former 'Amanda Show' star was also arrested for setting fire to an elderly woman's driveway, at the time it was reported she was held in a psychiatric hospital to undergo treatment for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

But Lynn puts all these incidents down to smoking too much pot, the actress's mother told E!News that Amanda "is very sorry for all the hurtful tweets, statements and actions that occurred while she was under the influence of marijuana."

Lynn speaking out on her daughter's health comes on the same day, Bynes' lawyer addressed the speculation that the star is suffering with a mental health issue.

"There has been much speculation about Amanda's medical condition," her attorney Tamar Arminak told People magazine. "She asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it."
