Gibson Skips 'Stalker' Hearing
A man accused of stalking Deborah Gibson has avoided a restraining order after the 80s pop star skipped a court hearing on Wednesday (28May08).
Gibson filed for a restraining order against Spaniard Bassas Jorge Puigdollers, 44, last month (Apr08), claiming he had gone to every gig she has performed since 2002; tried to get backstage at shows and followed her to her hotels.
The last straw came when Puigdollers showed up at the singer's Los Angeles home on 13 April (08) and refused to leave Gibson's doorstep.
She asked for a rule forcing Puigdollers to remain at least 100 yards away from her, and banning him from contacting her and attending her gigs.
But the case has been dismissed after neither party attended the U.S. Superior Court hearing on Wednesday (28May08).
After the complaint was first filed, Puigdollers said, "I wanted to use the fan club to help people who can't go see her to get autographs and photos.
"I understand that she wants her privacy. I would like to say I'm sorry. I don't want problems and I don't want to bother her so much."
