Tv Star Sues National Enquirer Over Addiction Story

  • 31 May 2006

US TV star Lark Voorhies is suing the National Enquirer for branding her a cocaine addict. The actress, who played LISA TURTLE in TV sitcom Saved By The Bell, is asking for unspecified punitive damages as a result of the June 2005 article, in which a source told the tabloid Voorhies had a "terrible drug problem". Voorhies insists the allegations are false and have cost her a number of jobs and caused her "humiliation, embarrassment, hurt feelings, mental anguish, and suffering". Voorhies filed the court papers, which have been obtained by TMZ.com, yesterday (30MAY06). The actress' doctor is supporting her suit - he wrote a letter to the Enquirer a month after the article appeared insisting his client didn't have a cocaine addiction.
