Alabama 3 - Outlaw - Album Review

Alabama 3
Outlaw
One Little Indian
Release Date: 23 May 2005
For everyone who’s ever done something, even slightly, illegal here is the record for you. It certainly won’t help you getting a shorter time in jail if you’re convicted, but it might help lifting your mood in case you end up there. This is dance-chillout-country from Brixton at its best (if ever there is a genre of music called like that). In fact, there is no definition for Alabama 3’s Outlaw, but this should probably be taken as a compliment rather than considering it a real issue. Single ‘Hello…I’m Johnny Cash’ is not the only gem shining in this mad mad album, but songs such as ‘Gospel Train’ or ‘Terra Firma Cowboy Blues’ highly contribute to its heterogeneous feel. Very enjoyable and very inspiring, the back of the album sleeve features an old-looking picture of the band members posing like cowboys. Hilariously brilliant.
