Mary Horowitz is a unique lady. She still lives with the mum and dad and her job as a cruciverbalist - a crossword puzzle constructor - isn't exactly your average choice for a career. As her parents become more anxious for Mary to settle down, they send her on a on blind date with the son of one their friends. Convinced the date is bound to fail and Steve will turn out to be gay, Mary reluctantly accepts the offer. As soon as Steve picks Mary up from her parents house, she finds herself attracted to him. As the night goes on, Mary pounces on Steve - which she loves but it's quite clear the feelings not mutual. When he receives a well timed call from his office telling him he needs to go to work he makes his excuses and drops Mary off with the last words 'I wish you could be there, but...' . What Mary sees as a successful date, was a true disaster in the eyes of Steve and Mary takes his words a little too literally and follows Steve to his job. Through their totally differing opinions it appears Steve has a new stalker and Mary has a new lover.
