Danijel and Ajla are a young couple living in Bosnia Herzegovina in 1992. When war breaks out, it tears Danijel and Ajla apart, with Danijel joining the war as a commander of a Prisoner of War camp, a position given to him by his high ranking father, who is in the Yugoslav People's Army.

Danijel hates his job but he cannot quit. A twist of fate causes him to reunite with his old love Ajla but in very different circumstances. Ajla has been brought in as a prisoner of war. Danijel discovers that she was also a rape victim and tries his best to rekindle their love but is unable to do so, as they are on opposing sides. Danijel is now faced with a difficult decision: does he risk everything to be with Ajla again, or does he kill the love of his life?
