The Pirate Captain, although relentlessly optimistic, has never won the Pirate of the Year Award. Perhaps it has something to do with his crew - many of them are pirates but some aren't (and one is a fish dressed in a pirate hat). Or maybe it's because he doesn't have much of a success rate when it comes to stealing treasure.

But this year, the Pirate Captain is determined to win it, even if it means going head to head against his rivals, Cutlass Liz and Black Bellamy, both of whom are much better pirates. He also faces the wrath of Queen Victoria, who detests pirates and wants them removed from the seas. But with a young, slightly nervy Charles Darwin at his side - as well as his trusted parrot, Polly - the Pirate Captain travels to Blood Island and terrorises the streets of Victorian London in an attempt to become Pirate of the Year. Will he succeed?
