The Expendables 3 Review
By Rich Cline
Good
Striking a tone somewhere between the po-faced original and the silly Part 2, this rampaging action nonsense is badly overcrowded and chaotic, but there's plenty of comedy and whizzy stuntwork to keep the audience entertained. It of course helps a lot that the film is packed to the rafters with iconic actors and lively newcomers. And their sassy dialogue helps make up for the idiotic plot.
It opens with a prison break, as Barney (Sylvester Stallone) and his team (Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Terry Crews) rescue their old cohort Doc (Wesley Snipes) then head off on a mysterious mission that turns out to involve their presumed-dead nemesis Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), who is targeting Barney's team. So Barney and his pal Bonaparte (Kelsey Grammer) set about finding four new commandoes (Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell and Victor Ortiz) to take on Stonebanks, but of course nothing goes as plan. For the final face-off they're joined by the old team, CIA boss Drummer (Harrison Ford), former colleagues Trench and Yin (Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jet Li), and chatty newcomer Galgo (Antonio Banderas).
The ever-increasing cast means that some characters can't help but be pushed into the shadows (Crews and Li are barely in this film), while others hover around the edges of scenes injecting moments of sarcastic wit. Each of the characters gets his or her moment of eye-popping action, as the film lurches from set-piece to set-piece in a whirl of bombs, bullets and blades. All of this is fun because the actors are gleefully refusing to take any of this seriously. The scene-stealers this time are Gibson, terrific as the swaggering villain, and Banderas, who's hilarious as the only person who can string a sentence together.

A Different Kind Of Knock Out: Victor Ortiz Leaves Dancing With The Stars
By Hayley Avron in Movies / TV / Theatre on 24 April 2013
The boxer bowed out gracefully from the TV dancing contest
Not quite the sort of knock out he’s used to, Victor Ortiz bowed out gracefully from Dancing With The Stars last night (April 23, 2013) after finding himself in the bottom two with reality star Sean Lowe. “I had a blast. I made great friends, including you guys, you beautiful people,” he said, after the announcement came that he would be leaving.
“So at the end of the day it was a heck of an experience and hopefully these beautiful people will follow me to my next championship bout. I’m happy to get this far. I definitely need some dance moves.” Victor and his professional dance partner Lindsay Arnold scored the lowest number of points on Monday night’s show and now the pro boxer will be going home, to concentrate on a different kind of footwork – skipping around the ring, faced with a boxing opponent, rather than skipping around a dance floor with Lindsay. He tweeted a message of thanks to his fans, saying “Huge thanks to all the fans that supported @Dance9Lindsay & I this season! Such an amazing experience and we couldn’t have done it without u.”
Before the show (and Victor’s journey on it) ended, viewers were treated to performances from British pop star Olly Murs as well as the Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am, as everyone waited for the results.

Honey Boo Boo Mom DWTS Rumors DENIED... You Can All Rest Easy Now
By Hayley Avron in Movies / TV / Theatre on 14 February 2013
You can come out from behind the sofa now, folks. It turns out that one of the most disturbing TV rumors of recent months is NOT true. Honey Boo Boo’s Mom, Mama June will NOT be appearing on DWTS. Those rumors began when an ABC insider informed New York Daily News that June Shannon would be appearing on the forthcoming season of the celebrity dancing show. A rep for TLC, however, have told Huffington Post that those rumors are false. Huge breaths of relief being sighed the nation over, we wouldn’t wonder. The very thought of Mama June’s brash voice bellowing across a dance rehearsal space was filling us with a sense of unprecedented dread.
Mama June made the headlines recently for her massive weight loss. She dropped her weight by 115 pounds, despite her love of fried food and ‘sketti’ (a worryingly calorific mix of spaghetti with a ‘sauce’ comprised of ketchup and melted butter) and insisted that the loss was down to the hectic schedule that her daughter’s reality TV show (Here Comes Honey Boo Boo) places on her. Sketti’s still on the menu, it would appear, but she’s just a bit more active than she used to be. How many calories does ‘bellowing consistently at your family’ burn up, we wonder?
Meanwhile, other likely candidates for the next series of Dancing With The Stars are Emily Maynard, Victor Ortiz and Kourtney Kardashian.
