Standon Calling's tenth anniversary celebrated with a stellar line-up.

Hertfordshire's most eventful music festival Standon Calling is set to return for its 10th anniversary, and a host of new line-up additions are announced as the event draws nearer; including UK festival favourites The Horrors. Though that's not all you can look forward to.

Joining the likes of already announced headliners Little Dragon, The Dandy Warhols and Basement Jaxx are indie five-piece The Horrors, whose last album 'Luminous' (released in 2014) reached number 6 in the UK albums chart, as well as Dingwalls DJs Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge, electro duo Bondax and Scottish synthpop trio Prides.

A day by day recommendation of this year's festival favourites.

Coachella Festival is nearly here, bringing with it one hell of a weekend chock full of great food, exciting entertainment and, most importantly, amazing music.

Arguably California's most eagerly anticipated event of the year, Coachella settles at the Empire Polo Club in Indio once again for the fifteenth year running between April 11th and 13th on the first weekend and April 18th and 20th on the second. It's not unheard of that a music festival was so good they had to hold it twice, but as of 2012 it has become a no-brainer for Coachella. In a nutshell, it is basically a big playground for grown-ups - though of course it is a family friendly event - featuring activities such as the 3 Legged Race, the Beauty Bar, the art studios, dodgeball and the almighty Pie Eating Contest, all while you're munching on a variety of cuisine from around the state and rocking out to some of the best bands you will ever hear.

Little Dragon, Twice/Test Single Review

By Ben Davis in Music Reviews on 16 August 2007

Little Dragon
Twice/Test Single
Review

Over the past few years, Sweden has nurtured a good line in lovely alt-pop with Peter Bjorn and John, The Concretes and Jose Gonzales gaining international acclaim. The latest act to roll off this metaphorical conveyor belt is Little Dragon; the brainchild of vocalist Yukimi Nagano.

Nagano is a truly unique singer, understated emotion dripping off every note; recalling Kate Bush and Bjork. Twice is a master class in low key pop, a sparse piano line is offset by classy strings and woozy synth wobbles; it is restrained, but never detached.

Test is a funkier offering, with bursts of horns punctuating a fuzzy, bass-led R'n'B stomper. Little Dragon are definitely a band worth investigating, their self-titled debut will appear on 3rd September on Peacefrog.
