Wesley Deed's life is perfect. He is a fifth generation Ivy League graduate, trained by his father to be a businessman and trained by his mother to be a gentleman. He is engaged to a beautiful woman, Natalie and he has his entire life mapped out for him.

One night, as he's working late, he goes into his supply closet and sees a young girl sleeping there. The only other person in the office is the cleaner, Lindsey and, just as Wesley suspects, the young girl belongs to her.

Lindsey is a single mother who is struggling to make ends meet for her and her little girl. She frequently smuggles her daughter into work and until now, has never been caught. She fears that she'll get fired if they were ever caught but to her relief and surprise, Wesley does a good deed and gives them one of the office apartments to live in temporarily until he can sort out permanent accommodation for them.

But this simple good deed turns into something else for Wesley. When he's around Lindsey and her daughter, he feels happy, something that is lacking in his 'perfect' life. He must choose between a life he's always wanted and a life that is expected of him.
