Neil Finn's All-star Album Documentary Set For Release
A documentary about the making of Crowded House star Neil Finn's 2009 concept charity compilation The Sun Came Out is finally set for a Dvd release following an exhaustive battle to secure the rights to the star-studded footage.
Finn invited celebrities like KT Tunstall, Jeff Tweedy, Eddie Vedder, Johnny Marr and Radiohead stars Phil Selway and Ed O'Brien to his home in New Zealand to record an album of new songs in 10 days - eight years after many of the same artists took the stage at the Chocolate Cake hitmaker's 7 Worlds Collide festival.
Finn asked Simon Mark-Brown to film the get together so each of the artists could have their own little documentary chronicling the experience, but he was so impressed with the footage he decided to seek permission to release the film on Dvd.
Almost three years later, the film will be available on Dvd and digital download in April (12).
A spokeswoman for Finn says, "It's an amazing glimpse into the musical collaboration process between Neil Finn and the great musicians he assembled together for a special cause."
The album was released to raise funds for Oxfam and featured collaborations between Marr and Wilco frontman Tweedy, Sharon and Neil Finn, and KT Tunstall and Bic Runga.
