In the small Georgian town of Pacashau, Divinity Church Choir singer Vi Rose Hill (Queen Latifah) is made choir director over the feisty GG Sparrow (Dolly Parton). Their ever-increasing conflict threatens to weaken the strength of the choir's talent as they compete for the National Joyful Noise Competition. Vi wants to stick to what is traditional in the gospel choir whereas GG wants to shake up their sound and make it more appealing to the rest of the town.

Things take a massive turn when GG's talented but unruly grandson Randy wishes to join the choir; a suggestion which Vi is reluctant to accept because she thinks he just wants to get near her beautiful daughter Olivia.

This hilariously heart-warming film has to be the finest choir film since Sister Act 2 and equally as genuine. It has been directed by Todd Graff (Bandslam, Camp) and produced by Joseph Farrell, Catherine Paura and the Oscar nominees Michael Nathanson (LA Confidential), Broderick Johnson (The Book of Eli) and Andrew A. Kosove (Dude, Where's My Car?).
