Radio 1 DJs Nick Grimshaw And Greg James Found After 22-Hour National Hide And Seek Game

By Ed Biggs in Music / Festivals on 20 July 2018

Nick Grimshaw Greg James

Grimshaw and James hid themselves somewhere in the UK and challenged Radio 1 listeners to find them.

BBC Radio 1 stars Nick Grimshaw and Greg James were found by a fan in an elaborate nationwide game of hide-and-seek this week, having hidden in a secret location for 22 hours.

Grimshaw, the outgoing presenter of Radio 1’s breakfast show, got together with his successor Greg James this Tuesday (July 17th) and commenced a national game of hide-and-seek with listeners. Eventually, after almost an entire day, one resourceful listener found them hiding out in the Liver Building in Liverpool on Wednesday morning.

Given that the pair said that they would stay on air until they were found, it currently means that the two are very sleep-deprived!

Grimshaw has been presenting the Radio 1 breakfast show since 2012, but will step down and swap shifts with drivetime host Greg James.

Nick Grimshaw is to step down from his long-term role as host of BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show later this year, after roughly six years in the job.

The 33 year old host has been presenting Radio 1’s flagship morning programme since September 2012, but announced on Thursday morning (May 31st) to his millions of listeners that he would stepping down come the sixth anniversary of his appointment in September this year, admitting to being “really tired” and that he’d been doing the job for longer than he’d originally expected.

He’ll remain on Radio 1, with his shoes at the breakfast show being filled by Greg James in a direct time-slot swap with his colleague, who has hitherto presented the drivetime show.

Malik was supposed to have chatted to Greg James about his new single and his departure from One Direction.

For the second time in the space of a week, Zayn Malik has cancelled a scheduled media appearance, this time his interview on BBC Radio 1 with Greg James that was intended to be conducted on Monday afternoon (February 1st).

Hundreds of fans waiting outside Radio 1’s London offices for a glimpse of their hero were left disappointed, as Zayn reportedly called off the interview just 45 minutes before going live on air. Instead, DJ Greg James broadcast a tribute segment to Sir Terry Wogan, who passed away at the weekend.

The official UK chart has been announced on a Sunday evening since 1967.

The BBC has announced that their long running top 40 chart show is moving from its traditional Sunday afternoon slot to Friday evening, as a global release date for singles and albums comes into effect. As well as the change of days, the show will also be shorter, meaning that not all songs will be played during the run down.

So Tay’s latest achievement is a lip sync video with Radio 1 DJ Greg James. The pair are riding around in a car, blasting Blank Space (as it is meant to be listened to) and just being the adorable free spirits that their PR teams have decided they should be.

Can 'Candy' Take The Crown? Robbie Williams Headed For Number One

Robbie Williams last scored a number one single in 2004 but the former Take That star looks as though he’s heading for the top of the charts this weekend 'with his latest single ‘Candy,’ according to NME.com. It’s the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album Take The Crown and has sold 73,000 copies so far, since its release.

Sales will have been buoyed by his appearance on last week’s X Factor show, during which he joked with his Take That pal Gary Barlow about his support for the controversial contestant on the show, Rylan Clark. When he was asked by Radio One’s Greg James (who presents the station’s weekly official chart show) what he would do if he got the number one slot this Sunday (November 4, 2012), he replied that he would “stay in, look for UFOs, get fat and beardy again.” Robbie’s last number one single was ‘Radio,’ which coincided with the release of his Greatest Hits album in 2004. His ninth studio album, Take The Crown, will be released on November 5, 2012.

Last week, Labrinth and Emeli Sande’s duet ‘Our Version Of Events’ also hit the top spot, after they had performed live on X Factor, though they have slipped to third place, in the midweek charts analysis. The X Factor effect shouldn’t be underestimated. Fun have just leapt 29 places with ‘We Are Young’, after they also appeared on the TV talent contest in the UK.

Is Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 show flagging already? No sooner had the 23-year-old taken over from Chris Moyles than he was booking pop star of the moment Harry Styles in for a two-hour joint DJ stint!

Yep, that’s right One Direction fans, Harry will be joining Grimshaw on Radio 1 next month, on October 6, 2012. To be fair to the new breakfast radio host, the show won’t actually form part of his 6.30am-10.00am slot, instead making up a very special ‘One Direction’ day on the station. Things will kick off with Gemma Cairney, who will be joined by Liam Payne at 8am, before Styles teams up with Grimshaw and Scott Mills welcomes Zayn Malik at noon. Huw Stephens will have Niall Horan for company at 2pm before Greg James and Louis Tomlinson cap things off at 4pm. The boys will be creating their own features for their shows and possibly picking some of their own tracks.

Their appearances will be in promotion of One Direction’s new single ‘Live While We’re Young’, as well as their headline performance at the Radio 1 Teen Awards at Wembley Arena.
