Foo Fighters Primetime Emmy Awards

The group were due to mark their two nominations for the 'Sonic Highways' documentary by performing a song, but say Fox kicked them off the bill with very short notice.

Dave Grohl has explained his band’s absence from last night’s Primetime Emmy Awards, claiming that a scheduled performance from the group was cancelled by broadcasters Fox at the last minute.

The band received two nominations for the main Emmy Awards night, which took place on Sunday (September 20th) in Los Angeles, for their HBO documentary series ‘Sonic Highways’, which followed the recording of last year’s studio album of the same name and also doubled up as an exploration of the rich musical histories of a handful of U.S. cities.

The 37 year old ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ star told E! News at Wednesday’s preview night (September 16th) that preparations were almost complete for the ceremony, and that he wasn’t feeling too nervous. “I'm feeling really good, man, it's going well,” he said. “We're writing up a storm and we have shot a couple of pre-tapes, so we're editing and I feel good about it all.”

When asked what he thought he could get away with in terms of button-pushing and jokes, he replied: “Less than on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and probably about the same as on ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’.”
