Folk singer Sam Lee is truly bringing back the beauty of classic folk with his newly released Mercury Prize nominated album 'Ground Of Its Own' along with the lead single 'The Ballad Of George Collins'; a rendition of a classic Celtic song that was originally adopted by the late traditional singer Bob Copper.

The video for the track is bizarre and would come across as slightly camp were it not for the depth of the song given that the video opens with an image of a pair of red lipsticked lips mouthing the lyrics on a big screen in a very Frank-N-Furter-esque style that is initially rather confusing to witness. Further into the video and the music, however, the beauty and artistry is conveyed better with erratic dancing, semi-nudity and a formidable red-lipped beast of a woman who is, in the end, the death of George Collins. Sam's vocals on the track are phenomenally raw and he has a perfect folk voice that he thankfully hasn't tried to modernise in any way. The instrumental is also typically traditional and he doesn't take away from the song at all in terms of genre.

Folk music is only the latest of careers that Sam he taken up over time having originally worked as a visual artist, a burlesque dancer and a survivalist teacher trained by Ray Mears. Not only does he sing and record music, he also holds lectures at the Royal College of Music revealing all his secrets in the art of folk singing.
