Pearl Jam Bonnaroo

This year will be one to remember.

This year marks a very special year for the Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival as it prepares to celebrate '15 Years of Magic'; an anniversary that will see more than 150 acts including an exciting headline performance from Seattle grunge band Pearl Jam and the re-united LCD Soundsystem.

In June 2016, this legendary music event will return to Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee for its 15th anniversary, celebrating a successful run of all-hours entertainment which began in 2002. It's a four day event that will see a multitude of bands, musicians and comedians performing over 12 stages. It will be a thrill to see Pearl Jam return three years since the release of their number one album 'Lightning Bolt', while LCD Soundsystem - who parted ways in 2011 - have re-teamed for not only another festival run (they are also playing Coachella), but another album too.

From Kendrick Lamar to Slayer, this year is definitely one of the best.

Bonnaroo is in full swing and while we've seen some pretty impressive acts so far, the musical forecast shows things are not going to get quieter anytime soon. One of America's biggest and most diverse summer events, fans flock in their thousands to Tennessee this weekend to welcome some of the world's top entertainers.

Friday's line-up is a particularly mixed bag; where you've got music veterans the likes of 80s new wave legends Tears For Fears and 70s R&B band Earth Wind & Fire, you also got newer names such as LA duo Mini Mansions, who recently won acclaim for their second album 'The Great Pretenders', and Brit award winning UK chart toppers Royal Blood. Making some noise on the main What Stage throughout though are house producer Deadmau5, 'To Pimp a Butterfly' rapper Kendrick Lamar and roots rock collective Alabama Shakes.

A Week In Music - Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds' 'Push The Sky Away' Riding High, Foal Break New Ground With 'Holy Fire' And Haim Get Close To Nature With 'Falling'

Albums of Note... Heaped with praise and riding high in the UK charts, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ 15th studio album, Push the Sky Away is not only an artistic triumph but a commercial one, too. Cave’s songwriting style has mutated significantly since his early days as frontman and resident wildcard of The Birthday Party; he now resembles a particularly well-dressed bar fly and his songs are peppered with his quintessentially erudite turn of phrase.

For our reviewer, Push the Sky Away demonstrates Cave and his cohorts at their finest:“Knowing when to stop and what to leave out, when adding more will lessen the quality and having the strength of character to just cut away the surplus is most definitely driven by the ever uncompromising Cave and here it has clearly paid dividends… Push The Sky Away' has a delicacy and tenderness woven through it like a fine silken tapestry of beguiling beauty but it can still be unflinching and brutal.”
