Michael Kors Named Most Searched-for US Fashion Brand
Michael Kors has been named the most popular US label online.
The American designer beat runner-ups Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren to the title of most sought after fashion brand on the net, taking 19.6 per cent of 31 million global internet searches according to a new survey by Digital Luxury Group.
Michael's covetable leather items were responsible for the majority of hits and propelled his designs into the lead ahead of Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Diane von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson and Tom Ford, who rounded out the top ten.
David Sadigh, founder and chief executive officer of Digital Luxury Group, told WWD: ''Search engines better reflect customer interests than social media. The problem with social media is the buzz. Search engines are usually much more accurate in understanding primary interests.''
Michael - who is a judge on 'Project Runway' alongside Heidi Klum - is known for his all-American style and clean, classic cuts.
The company's shares surged by over 10 per cent from $5.40 to $62.40 earlier this month after reporting earnings that beat analysts' predictions.
The research undertaken by the Digital Luxury Group was focused between January and June 2012.
