Girls Aloud Split After Last Night Of Tour, Tweet Confirms

  • 21 March 2013

Any fans looking towards a new Girls Aloud album and a few more years of girl band action will be disappointed, as the band cut their reunion short straight after their U.K tour.

A Twitter message from the band read: "We have now come to the end of our incredible time together" as soon as they came off stage in Liverpool – the last date of the tour. Another Twitter message said: "Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade.” The band, who were formed on Popstars: The Rivals got back together for 12-date UK tour after three years of solo projects, or for some members of the band, silence. “It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots," they added.

Easily the most successful member of the band, Cheryl Cole, tweeted from her own account to convey her feelings on the split. "To the people that haven't been able to make it, for whatever reason, we feel your support regardless and have done for 10 yrs." Cole will no doubt go on to pursue her hugely successful solo musical and television career, but as for the other Girls Aloud girls, the future is uncertain.
