After Three Years (And Katy Perry) John Mayer Announces 44-Date Tour

  • 22 March 2013

Following relationships with Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, John Mayer has been tabloid fodder for the past couple of years, though it seems the blues musician is finally ready to get back to doing what he does best. Mayer returns to the road for a sprawling 44 date tour across North and South America this summer.

There is more to Mayer's live absence than a couple of female pop-stars however, he has undergone two rounds of surgery to repair a granuloma in his throat and was, at one stage, told he may never sing again. "For me to get back onstage and play again, it's just like, 'Oh right, this is what I'm able to do. This is what I've been able to do while I was watching a whole bunch of Westerns every night and making rice bowls with chicken,'" Mayer told Rolling Stone of his return, "It's been very fun to uncover it and rediscover it again."

Mayer recently played a short set at a benefit concert in Montana and will play a couple of smaller warm-up shows in Alabama and New Orleans before taking off on his full tour. Dates include a huge show at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl on October 5.
