Sara Gilbert Describes Best Engagement Ever On 'The Talk'

As far as engagements go, we think Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry’s is hard to beat. The actress told her fellow The Talk hosts, the audience, and now the world how it went down, and it’s pretty… pretty good.

“We have food and we're eating it, it's really sweet and there's this guy sitting playing guitar, like a street musician, and he starts playing this song that we love, that's kind of popular right now. And I'm like, 'Oh, that's so weird, this is so magical and amazing,'" explained Gilbert to Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler, and Sheryl Underwood. "So, that ends and she's like, 'Oh, I'm gonna ask him to play this other song,” she continues (this guy knew the song even though it was really obscure) “And suddenly the people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket and walk over and they start playing 'Love Song' [by The Cure]. And then a trombone and a saxophone start.” The proposal then takes t-shirt form, as Perry pulls out five shirts from her bag, each with one word on them; “will” “you” “marry” and “me”, with the final shirt bearing a “?”. Romantic enough for you? Well there’s more. Turning around upon her fiancé’s instruction, Gilbert was faced by family and friends, with Perry saying “I wanted them to be here, because this is our future.” Cue the ‘awws’.

It’s certainly a novel way to propose; just think of all the planning! Still, Perry’s in the music business, so we’re pretty sure she’d have plenty of musical mates to come along and play for her. And if you thought that was lavish, think what the wedding will be like!
