Will.i.am Defends Justin Bieber Over Anne Frank Controversy
Rapper will.i.am is baffled by the furore over Justin Bieber's recent trip to Amsterdam, Holland and has praised the young star for choosing to enjoy a trip to the Anne Frank museum over the city's more controversial activities.
The Baby hitmaker took time out from his busy tour schedule earlier this month (Apr13) to visit the Anne Frank House, where the Jewish teenager and her family hid from the Nazis during World War Ii, and he scribbled in a guest book, "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a Belieber (fan)."
His note sparked outrage, and will.i.am has now come to the defence of the pop star, commending him for making the educational visit during his time in Amsterdam.
The Black Eyed Peas rapper tells Britain's The Sun, "We are like, 'Hey, that guy went to freaking Amsterdam and went to see Anne Frank's museum and said, 'I wonder if she would've been a Belieber'.'
"The dude was in freaking Amsterdam. He could get sex because it's legal, he could get drugs because it's legal, and now we are making a hoopla because he said, 'I wonder if Anne Frank was a Belieber?'
"He went to a museum! If you go to Amsterdam you are going to see some crazy freaking s**t... there is a lot of s**t to do in Amsterdam but he chose to go to Anne Frank's house. The guy is all right."
