Ladybird star Saoirse Ronan is the latest actress to take on a period drama detailing the British monarchy and will appear as Mary, Queen of Scots in the upcoming self-titled film due out on Friday (18 Jan). The Oscar-nominated actress stars opposite Margot Robbie - who plays Elizabeth I - and has revealed the pair were kept apart so they could experience real shock at each other's radical transformations.
In the film Ronan plays the titular Mary, who is Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18. She defies pressure to remarry; instead, returning to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne.

Ewan McGregor To Play Villain In Harley Quinn Stand-Alone Movie

McGregor is to bring the less well-known character of Black Mask to the big screen for the first time.
More developments in the upcoming stand-alone Harley Quinn movie Birds of Prey, with news that Ewan McGregor has been cast as its villain, Black Mask.
Deadline reported on Thursday (November 1st) that McGregor, 47, will portray the Gotham City mob boss (aka Roman Sionis) who doubles up as the leader of the False Face Society gang.
According to the DC comic mythology, Black Mask kills his parents in order to inherent their massive wealth and take over their corporation, but turns bitter and blames others when he eventually loses it all. It’s the first time that the character has ever made a big-screen appearance.

Though serial killer Charles Manson is said to only play a small part in the film, the actions that both he and his cult 'family' take look certain to set the stage for the story being told. Tate is of course the former wife of Roman Polanski, who was pregnant at the time she was murdered by a group of Manson's followers.

Though 'Suicide Squad' didn't exactly make the best impression on critics and viewers, the DC Extended Universe entry did manage to introduce one of DC comics' most infamous villains in Harley Quinn, allowing Margot Robbie to shine in the role and prove that she was the best actress suited to take on the character. Starring alongside the likes of Will Smith and Viola Davis, Robbie had her work cut out for her if she was to stand out, but did everything she could have and more to make a success of her role.
With 'Gotham City Sirens' in the works as well as the planned 'Harley Quinn and The Joker' film and a solo Harley movie, we should be seeing a lot of Robbie in the next few years, and we can't wait to get more of her unique take on the Clown Princess.

Australian actress Margot Robbie is getting the best reviews of her career for the biopic I, Tonya, which tells the tortured story of US figure skater Tonya Harding, who notoriously was involved in an attack on her rival in the run-up to the 1994 Winter Olympics. Robbie also produced the film, which costars Allison Janney and Sebastian Stan. And she loved screenwriter Steven Rogers' blackly comical tone.
"It's definitely dark," Robbie laughs. "Allison Janney puts it well. She's like, 'It's like laughing in church when you know that you shouldn't, and then you're thinking what kind of person am I to find this funny?' It does have those moments in it."
