Angelina Jolie Thrills Fans At World War Z London Premiere
Angelina Jolie made her first public appearance since revealing she underwent a double mastectomy, at partner Brad Pitt's London film premiere for new movie World War Z on Sunday (02Jun13)
The Hollywood couple wowed fans in Leicester Square and signed autographs and posed for pictures before joining Pitt's co-stars Mireille Enos and Peter Capaldi and director Marc Forster for the film launch, which marked the first time Jolie had been seen in public since sharing the news of her preventive cancer surgery in a New York Times article last month (May13).
The smiling actress also stopped for a brief chat with the Bbc before entering the cinema, stating she felt "great" and "wonderful", adding, "I'm very, very grateful for all the support. It's meant a lot to me.
"I've been very happy just to see the discussion about women's health expanded, and that means the world to me."
Asked about fiance Pitt's support throughout her surgery and recovery, Jolie said, "He's been extraordinary... He's such a wonderful man."
She also had a critical appreciation for her man's new zombie apocalypse movie, telling reporters, "It's a really fun film."
Following the premiere for World War Z, rockers Muse, who contributed a song to the film's soundtrack, performed live at London's Horse Guards Parade.
Jolie missed the funeral of her aunt, Debbie Martin, to attend the premiere. Martin, who lost her battle with breast cancer a week ago (26May13), was the sister of the Salt star's late mother Marcheline Bertrand.
