'How I Live Now': Natasha Khan Movie Soundtrack 'Garden Heart' Released [Video]
Bat For Lashes' Natasha Khan and music producer Jon Hopkins have joined their creative forces to bring the official soundtrack song for upcoming war thriller, How I Live Now. Jon Hopkins had been working on the Kevin Macdonald-directed film's soundtrack when he decided to invite the exquisite vocals of Khan.
With an opening akin to The Stone Roses' 'I Wanna Be Adored,' the track is built around a softly thrumming bassline; a beating heart-style rhythm that keeps pace whilst Khan's ever-ethereal, mournful vocals sing of being "far away" from someone.
The movie will star Saoirse Ronan (Hanna, The Lovely Bones) as Daisy - a New York teenager who spends her summer in the English countryside with cousins. She falls in love with Eddie (George MacKay) and the pair spend their perfect summer together. However, their dreamy idyll is blown apart when World War III breaks out and the pair become violently separated. From then on, Daisy embarks on a terrifying journey to be reunited with her lover, but is haunted by ideas of what she will find, should she and Eddie meet again.
Watch The 'Garden Heart' Music Video:
The 'Garden Heart' video shows Saoirse entering a big abandoned house wearing army uniform and she studies her mud and blood splattered features and wild hair in the mirror. She then runs a bath which turns into the beautiful pond she and Eddie used to skinny-dip in before the war. As Daisy's tub is consumed by waterlillies and rushes, the final shots of the clip show her and Eddie swimming in the sun-streaked waters as their bodies intertwine and they kiss.
The video is nothing short of moving, and raises plenty of intrigue ahead of the movie's release even though fans of the YA fiction novel of the same name, written by Meg Rosoff, will be familiar with the drama's storyline.
How I Live Now will be released on 4th October in the UK after it premieres at this year's Toronto Film Festival in Canada on 11th September.
