Finnigan, one half of legendary husband-and-wife presenting duo Richard and Judy, has quit television for good, says her daughter Chloe Madeley.

Veteran presenter Judy Finnigan has taken the decision to quit television, in order to “concentrate on health and happiness”, her daughter Chloe Madeley has revealed.

Finnigan, 70, and a former presenter of ‘This Morning’, has enjoyed a 43 year long career on British television, but she won’t be returning to the screen alongside husband and presenting partner Richard Madeley, their daughter has said.

Following early careers in local television, the couple fronted ITV’s morning magazine show from 1988 through to 2001 and became household names across Britain, whereupon they left the network to present their own show, ‘Richard & Judy’, on Channel 4.

This is one of those stories that, devoid of context, is fun to write a headline for. Context, however, renders is boring and a little bit weird. "If Judy was really ill and in logical mind...,” Richard Madeley would pull the plug on his long-time wife and co-presenter Judy Finnigan, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Madeley continued: "If, when the time came... Judy said to me, 'But what about you? What about the risk of prosecution?', I'd say, 'That's my problem, I'll deal with that, don't worry about it.' And for me, it would be the locked room, the bottle of whisky and the revolver. I wouldn't want to mess around."
