Santa Monica Tastes Hollywood Glamour As Stars Come Out For Critics Choice Awards [Photos]

The Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California, set the stage for the latest instalment of the awards season program, playing host to some of the biggest names in showbiz and paying tribute to some of the year's biggest films for the 19th annual Critic's Choice Awards.

12 Years a Slave, Cate Blanchett and Matthew Mcconaughey were among the other big winners at the Critics Choice Movie Awards on Thursday, taking honors for best picture, actress and actor. The biggest winner of the night however was Gravity, which took home seven awards in total, with director Alfonso Cuaron winning Best Director and Sandra Bullock taking home the Best Actress (Action) gong.

It may not be considered as significant an event as the Academy Awards or the Golden Globes, but the Critic's Choice Awards still had Hollywood's finest turning up in their finest gear and with full intention to leave the night with some kind of recognition. Of course not everyone could leave with an award and as a result there was some unhappy people leaving empty handed.

Of course, on the red carpet, the real contest was down to who wore what and who wore it best. The glamour stakes were high and the competition was fierce as the leading ladies of Hollywood put on their best designer gowns and hired their favourite stylists to have them looking immaculate for the big night.

Aussie actress Margot Robbie may not have been up for any awards, be she arguably went home with the gong for most effortlessly glamorous of the night in her black jumpsuit with lace arms. The competition was stiff though, with Sandra Bullock, Kristen Bell and French actress Adele Exarchopoulos proving why they are leading ladies with their enviable looks. Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts on the other hand played it cool with matching sunglasses.

In all, it was a successful night, one that may have taken place outside of Los Angeles, but one that maintained all the glamour and style of a typical Hollywood awards show nonetheless. The time is ticking down to the biggest night of them all now, with Oscar season just around the corner.
