Soul artist Janelle Monae lends her voice to the soundtrack of one of this year's most anticipated animated movies, Blue Sky Studios' 'Rio 2', with her lively new single 'What Is Love', available on April 8th 2014.

The new lyric video features all your favourite animated characters from the movie including Spix's macaws Jewel and Blu with their three chicks, slobbery bulldog Luiz, romantic toucan Rafael, Nigel's flirtatious frog friend Gabi and Nico the bottle-top wearing canary, all dancing along to this uplifting track. Confetti falls as the chorus builds into a dynamic climax, and the strong Latin rhythm ensures it is one of the funkiest movie soundtracks of the year. Monae's powerful voice infuses the track with a vibrant energy that perfectly matches the atmosphere of the movie.

Janelle was one of the nominees for the BRIT Awards' Best International Female this year after her second album 'The Electric Lady' garnered much critical acclaim and reached number 5 in the US Album Chart. 'Rio 2' will be released in cinemas on April 4th, and features the voices of Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Leslie Mann and Jamie Foxx. Janelle has three upcoming shows in Birmingham, Manchester and London coming up in May.
