Still 'Mean Girls'? Tracking Down The Stars Of The 2004 Movie

  • 15 March 2014

There’s been a whole lot of Mean Girls talk lately. First with news that there was potentially a Mean Girls movie in the works, although co-writer Tina Fey immediately dispelled those rumors. However, the Mean Girls musical is said to be coming along, slowly but surely, and it's got us reminiscing about the original and wondering where those Mean Girls are today?

Image caption Lindsay is no longer fresh-faced Cady

It’s hard not to know where Lindsay Lohan is, or after “Lindsay’s List” was released, who she’s been there with. Lindsay played Cady Heron in the original movie and her career has been patchy since then, to say the least. While Lohan has appeared in a string of movies, including Georgia Rule, I Know Who Killed Me and Labor Pains, she hasn’t been nominated for any acting awards since 2008 and her personal life has been no more successful. Her cameo in 2 Broke Girls has been slammed by an audience member, who claims the troubled starlet couldn't remember any of her lines. Lindsay has struggled with an array of legal issues and has been in and out of rehab for some years now. Her new self-titled reality show began on Opera’s network OWN on 9th March, only to be overshadowed by the list of her alleged conquests which surfaced soon after. The Lohan Saga continues.

Rachel McAdams career, on the other hand, has gone from strength to strength. Rachel played the meanest girl of all the Mean Girls, Regina George, and has since had leading roles in The Notebook, Wedding Crashers, The Time Travelers Wife, Sherlock Holmes and Midnight In Paris. She also dated Ryan Gosling, of which we're probably most jealous.

Next page: so where are Lizzie Kaplan and Lacey Chabert?

Image caption Lizzie Caplan is much sleeker than when she played Janice Ian

Lizzy Caplan AKA Janis Ian is currently starring in the hit show Masters of Sex alongside Martin Sheen. Before taking on the role of Virginia Johnson, Caplan starred in appeared in movies Hot Tub Time Machine and 127 Hours, which also featured her once upon a time co-star from Freaks and Geeks, James Franco.

Image caption Lacey Chabert mainly lends her voice to animations these days

Lacey Chabert has starred in a string of relatively unheard of movies, as well as a recurring role on TV series Baby Daddy. Chabert has mainly provided her voice to animations such as The Spectacular Spider-Man and Robot Chicken. One of Lacey’s earliest roles was voicing Eliza Thornberry in Nickelodeon’s The Wild Thornberrys, perhaps voice acting is simply where she feels most comfortable. Her upcoming movie Christian Mingle is due to come out later this year.

Image caption Amanda Seyfried is often photographed with her dog

Amanda Seyfried isn’t just famous for her lovable pooch! Amanda, who played not-quite-there Karen Smith, has landed leading roles in a string of high profile movies, including Mamma Mia!, Alpha Dog, Les Miserables, Lovelace and the upcoming A Million Ways To Die In The West. She’s definitely not got time to sit around predicting the weather with her boobs anymore!

All of the Mean Girls have come on a long way since the movie came out back in 2004, for better, or worse. How do you think a stage adaption of Mean Girls will work? Will you be buying a ticket when it finally comes out?
