A Week In Movies: Films Premiere In Hollywood, Texas And Mexico, Captain America Gathers Buzz, Sin City 2 Delivers A Trailer And Rumours Swirl About Episode Vii Casting
Two new films held their premieres in Hollywood this week. Muppets Most Wanted's world premiere was attended by stars Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, Kermit and Miss Piggy. Meanwhile, Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper and Imogen Poots walked the red carpet for Need for Speed, which also hits cinemas this weekend. Following its world premiere at the South by South West Festival, Veronica Mars also held red carpet premieres in Hollywood and New York with Kristen Bell and the cast. Along with its own premiere, Marvel started screening the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier to the press this week, and buzz has been strong for the action movie reteaming Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson along with Anthony Mackie and Robert Redford. Scarlett Johansson also stars in Chef, a comedy from actor-filmmaker Jon Favreau costarring Robert Downey Jr, Sofia Vergara and Dustin Hoffman. The sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For doesn't open until August, but a new trailer this week promises more heavily stylised noir action with returning cast members Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson and Jessica Alba, plus Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin and Jeremy Piven. And ahead of the start of production next month, rumours are swirling about who J.J. Abrams will cast in Star Wars Episode VII. Apparently, the lead Jedi hero role is down to Downton Abbey's Ed Speleers, Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemmons, British actor John Boyega and theatre actors Matthew James Thomas and Ray Fisher.
