From rock 'n' roll to rap, Memphis, Tennessee is brought to you by Budweiser Made in America.

Budweiser Made in America is getting closer all the time as we explore the nation's most musically cultured cities. Now we hit Memphis, whose famous faces include everyone from Elvis Presley to Justin Timberlake.

Memphis, Tennessee has been a massive influence on musical culture since music charts began, with a range of artists frequently mentioning the great city within their own song lyrics; think Marc Cohn's 'Walking In Memphis', Chuck Berry's 'Memphis', Paul Simon's 'Graceland' and of course Alannah Myles' 'Black Velvet'. Thus, it's only right that Budweiser Made In America bring their documentary series to the great city to explore what Memphis is all about nowadays.

Wiz Khalifa Scores Serious Cool Points For 'Ninja Turtles' Track

Wiz Khalifa and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle? Good idea, Paramount.

Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J and Ty Dolla $ign go hard in their new track Shell Shocked for the soundtrack of the upcoming _Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles._ The track debuted on Monday and Wiz and co. are currently working on a music video to go along with it. Sidenote: between this and Khalifa’s _Game of Thrones-_themed remix of Black & Yellow, it looks like he’s getting all the cool/nerdy gigs these days.

Image caption Khalifa is working with all the nerd favorites these days.

The track has apparently been in the works for a year and a half between the label, Atlantic Records and the team behind the TMNT reboot. It was made available on iTunes one day after premiering on YouTube. So how much crossover is there really between hip hop and the TMNT fandom?

Katy Perry's 'Dark Horse' Video Offends Muslims, But Blasphemy Is The Least Of Her Worries [Video]

By Lauren James in Music / Festivals on 26 February 2014

Let's not forget, the promo for Katy Perry's 'Dark Horse' is just a terrible video.

Katy Perry's new music video 'Dark Horse' is making headlines across the world for all the wrong reasons. An online petition has attracted nearly 60,000 signatures calling for YouTube to remove 'Dark Horse' from its site. Shazad Iqbal, of Bradford in the UK, launched the petition in the name of blasphemy, saying the treatment of an "Allah" necklace seen worn in the clip is offensive to Muslims.

Looks Like Someone Didn't Learn From The Geisha Incident: Katy Perry Is An Egyptian In 'Dark Horse.'

The pop star plays a Cleopatra-type character in the video, which is apparently supposed to be set in ancient Egypt. An array of suitors are presented to her and she reacts by zapping them all into sand with lightning. It's not the zapping that the petitioners have taken offence at, it's what she zaps.

New Video For "Dark Horse" Sees Katy Perry As Jewel-Toned Pop Culture Cleopatra

By Victoria Pavlova in Music / Festivals on 21 February 2014

Katy Perry Juicy J

It's a mashup of every Ancient Egyptian trope to ever appear in pop culture. Also jewel tones.

Happy Friday! Happy new Katy Perry video! Perry released the official video for Dark Horse yesterday, February 20th. The video once again showcases Perry’s penchant for kitschy cultural references – in the best way. It starts off by setting the scene “Memphis, Egypt, a crazy long time ago…”

Perry's PRISM is her most successful album to date.

Ignoring the fact that the lyrics reference Aphrodite, who is actually an Ancient Greek deity, the video launches into a montage of what pop culture considers to be Ancient Egyptian references – there are barges, animal-headed gods, the Eye of Horus and sundry Egypt-related, jewel-toned imagery. There’s also Perry, dressed as some sort of sci-fi power-wielding, grill-sporting Cleopatra. In other words, it’s as Katy Perry as a video can be. It’s hard to tear your eyes away. Additional details that work in favor of Dark Horse – the whole lightning power thing ties in nicely with lyrics like “So you wanna play with magic/ Boy, you should know what you’re falling for.” Also, Perry’s various outfits and makeup looks throughout are a thing of beauty. Youtube makeup gurus are going to have a field day with this one.

Miley Cyrus Pregnant - The Latest Twitter Storm Has Nothing To Do With Cyrus' Music

By Victoria Pavlova in Lifestyle / Showbiz on 01 October 2013

The rumor plunged twitter into chaos, until Ms Cyrus herself stepped in to set the record straight.

Miley Cyrus has firmly established her reign as a social media queen, but the term “Miley Cyrus pregnant,” which trended for a little while today, was definitely not something she initiated. The rumor seems to have started when CreamBMP first reported that the 'Wrecking Ball' singer was pregnant with rapper Juicy J’s baby.

According to the website, Cyrus “stole the show” when she stood up on stage and made the announcement at the BET Hip Hop Awards. The article goes into detail, saying that the audience first laughed in disbelief, but applauded when Miley confirmed that the announcement was, in fact, serious.

Miley Cyrus Laughs Off The Juicy J Pregnancy Rumours, But Enjoys The Publicity

By Joe Wilde in Lifestyle / Showbiz on 01 October 2013

Cyrus thinks that the reports stating that she is pregnant with the rapper's child are hilarious, and definitely not true.

Miley Cyrus has received little in the way of good press recently, with her latest single and album releases usually being marred by difficulties in her personal life and the controversy surrounding her new material and music videos. A pregnancy rumour therefore was always likely to arise, and lo and behold that it exactly what happened over the weekend when Miley and rapper Juicy J appeared at the BET Hip Hop Awards together and instigated the murmuring themselves with an off-hand comment.

Image caption Juicy J loved working with Katy Perry.

"No, no, no, no. She's very professional, everything went smooth and she's a great person," he said. "My verse I did on that song, she was singing it. She's really a genius, she was by the mixing board and telling the guy what to take in and take out. She's really hands-on with her music, she knows music."

After The 20/20 Release, Justin Timberlake Is Collaborating With Juicy J, Says Wiz Khalifa

Justin is to return the favor by laying down some tunes on Juicy J's new record.

With his boy band days firmly behind him, it looks like Justin Timberlake is finally getting some street cred. Wiz Khalifa talked about Justin’s upcoming collaboration with the King Of Ratchet, Juicy J. Timberlake is just one of the collaborators to be featured on the album, but also probably the most high-profile one.

“He's got songs with Justin Timberlake,” said Wiz. "He has a song with the Weeknd… but it's like a real hood album too, you know Juicy's projects." This isn’t the first time J and J have joined forces on a project, though. Justin’s last album, Future Sex/ Love Sounds featured the song Chop Me Up, on which Timberlake worked along with Three 6 Mafia. So now JT is simply returning the favor. Wiz also revealed some other details about Juicy’s upcoming work, delving into plans for his future summer project, Stay Trippy: "He's really breaking his back to give it that old sound mixed with the new, nothing forced."

Wiz went into detail to praise Juicy’s work, but of course, the rapper is a signee of Taylor Gang – Wiz Khalifa’s own project. What are protégés for, if not to be promoted at every opportunity, after all. In any case, if you’re interested in hearing J&J’s collab, keep your eyes and ears on the interwebz – it should be dropping soon.
