Miranda Kerr And Orlando Bloom Might Still Be Friends, But We Prefer To Remember Them As A Couple

  • 01 April 2014

They were long lauded as one of Hollywood’s most photogenic couples, but after six years together Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr’s relationship fizzled out last October. The couple, who have remained friendly are now starting to open up about their relationship and how they are working together for their son, Flynn. As they focus on their futures lets remind ourselves of one of Hollywood's most beautiful couples, who sadly just couldn't make it work.

Australian Victoria’s Secret model Miranda and Legolas began dating in 2007, with Kerr initially reluctant to enter into a relationship with an actor. Orlando had also just come off a high profile relationship with actress Kate Bosworth. In a 2001 Austrailian TV Interview Kerr credited Bloom’s persistence as the reason she decided to give the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star a chance, saying, ‘I was reluctant - not about him, but the idea of that (him being a movie star)... I think it was his persistence (that won me over). Maybe he wanted me because he thought he couldn't have me'. The public was long kept in the dark about the two hotties relationship though, until April the next year, when they made their first public appearance together. The pair chose a day out to the Sydney races in Miranda's native Australia to let the world in on their secret romance.

The couple continued to keep things on the down low until Miranda kept getting spotted with an impressive sparkler on her wedding finger. Finally in June 2010 the couple admitted they were in fact engaged. Before we even had time to imagine the dress, they then took a very secret walk down the aisle in July. Miranda had cancelled all her public appearances as the two set off on their honeymoon, leading to rumors that a baby was on the way. Indeed the rumor mill had it right, with Miranda announcing in August she was four months pregnant, Soon Miranda’s bump was fully on show as she posed nude in W Magazine in December and then became the first pregnant model to feature on an Australian Vogue cover when she was featured the next month, albeit fully clothed this time. In January 2011 Miranda gave birth to baby Flynn and announced the exciting new on on her blog, writing, 'he weighed 9lb 12 ounces (a very healthy and big baby boy). I gave birth to him naturally; without any pain medication and it was a long, arduous and difficult labour, but Orlando was with me the whole time supporting and guiding me through it. I could not have done it without him.' Later she would reveal that Orlando wasn't quite so brave and that he had asked for the epidural when watching her go through the pain of the birth. Two months later Kerr was back on the runway for Balenciaga's Paris Fashion Week show with Orlando cheering her on.

The idyllic seeming couple started to be plagued by split rumors in mid 2012, first when they appeared not to be wearing their wedding rings and then when Miranda was accused of getting too cozy with Leonardo DiCaprio. Both times, the rumors were laughed off, with even Orlando’s mother speaking out to deny a split. The pair then put on a strong red carpet showing at the 2013 Golden Globes with Orlando gushing over his beautiful wife. The happiness didn't last long as sadly that October their split was officially announced, with a rep saying ‘Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months. After six years together, they have recently decided to formalise their separation.'

Since the split the couple have stayed close, still being pictured together taking care of their son Flynn. Last December Miranda stayed with Flynn in NYC over Christmas so he could be close to his father, who was starring in Romeo and Juliet on Broadway. Orlando has since said the split left him feeling ‘rudderless’ but he now feels his life is coming back together. He told Britain's The Times newspaper that he wants to stay a part of his son's life and also revelaed that the split was amicable with 'no wrongdoing on either side – no harm, no foul.' He described his relationship with Miranda since the split as 'ever evolving', adding 'I've said to her, "We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives and we have a child, so it's important to me that we respect each other as we always have and that Flynn feels that and understands that.'" He also reiterated that there is still a 'deep love' between the couple. Kerr too has been talking about the changes in her life since her divorce, but her confessions have been a little more risque, telling GQ she’s now 'ready to explore' and admitting she appreciates ‘both men and women.'_

It seems Miranda and Orlando might have the whole divorce thing worked out, they both seem happy and still able to put on a united front for son Flynn. It's still a shame that these two very photogenic stars had to call it quits but at least they seem to still be friendly. Hopefully both can now find happiness elsewhere and continue to show that divorce, even in Hollywood doesn't always have to be messy.
