  • 19 May 2014

So, we’ve got to admit we’re sort of gunning for Mike Leigh’s film Mr. Turner to win the Palme d’Or 2014, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other films in the running for the prestigious award. Among the 18 films competing to win the highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival, the winner of which which will be announced on May 25, these are the films we think are most likely to scoop the award.

The Search, directed by Michel Hazanavicius

French drama The Search is a remake of the 1948 film of the same name. Directed by Hazanavicius, who directed 2011’s The Artist, The Search follows the friendship between a non-government organisation worker, played by Annette Bening, and a young boy from Chechnya. Hazanavicius’ last Cannes offering won the Academy Award for Best Motion Picture, so we’ve got high hopes for The Search.

Who would you like to see take home the coveted Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival?
