Cycling is certainly the sport du jour and is gripping the nation with Britons out on their bikes enjoying the warmer weather and planning Tour de France parties. The Royal family have certainly caught the fever too and Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry will be attending the opening ceremony of the Tour de France in Yorkshire on 5th July.

The Royal trio, as Hello reports, will be at the starting line to lend their support to the 22 teams which are competing in the 2272 mile long cycling race. Although the teams are starting in Yorkshire, they will race through Belgium, Spain before finally finishing in Paris on 27th July.

The race kicks off at a country estate near Leeds, Harewood House, and Middleton will be on the sidelines in order to cheer on the teams. This is not the first time the Royal couple have been involved in a cycling event as they both attended the 2012 London Olympics, showing support for the Great Britain team.

Yet Kate, her husband and brother-in-law are not the only members of the extended family who are bike mad. Pippa and James Middleton, Kate's sister and brother, are currently cycling 3000 miles across the US for charity. The pair is part of a team of eight cyclists, representing Great Britain, who will be racing from San Diego, California to Annapolis, Maryland. Pippa was recently made an ambassador for the British Heart Foundation and is taking part in the 33rd Annual Race Across America on their behalf. They set off on Saturday (14th June) and are set to finish the race on 22nd June.

Middleton was recently seen at the Trooping the Colour parade which took place on Saturday (14th June). The event marks the Queen's birthday and saw the Royal family en masse as they celebrated Queen Elizabeth's 88th birthday. Kate appeared in a pastel blue skirt suit complete with matching hat, adorned with artificial leaves, and a pearl broach.
