When the mystical powers of the Tablet of Ahkmenrah that animates that museum’s exhibits at night begin to die out, Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) realises he must travel the globe and meet up with new characters and old favourites in order to restore the artefact’s powers before it disappears forever. Cue a journey to London!

Alongside Stiller, a number of familiar faces return once more, including the late great comedian Robin Williams reprising his role as the 26th President of the United States Theodore Roosevelt. Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais and Owen Wilson also return to portray Octavius, Dr. McPhee and Jedediah respectively. There’s also a host of newcomers on display, most notably ex-'Downton Abbey' actor Dan Stevens, who caps off a successful 2014 with a significant role in a family blockbuster. Stage legend Sir Ben Kingsley also makes an appearance as a powerful pharaoh that created the Tablet of Akhmenrah, and Skyler Gisondo replaces Jake Cherry as Stiller’s character’s brother Nicky Daley.

Shawn Levy, the director of the two previous movies, returns to the director’s chair once more. He’s taken a five year gap between the second and third of the Night At The Museum films to concentrate on other projects, including 2012’s The Watch and 2013’s The Internship. Levy recently revealed to The Canadian Press that it was emotional for him to view Robin Williams’ contribution to the new film when it came to the editing process after shooting had wrapped: “It’s sad but I do feel in some weird way honoured to be serving this legacy of work”.

Night At The Museum: Secret of the Tomb will be released in cinemas on December 19th.
