The bosses over at Sony seem to have some very specific rules for Peter Parker and his alter-ego.

If you’ve ever thought Spider-Man on the big screen was just a little too boring or ‘safe’, then we could just be about to explain why. In the latest round of leaked Sony emails the long list of contractual obligations that the Spider-Man character allegedly must meet for film is revealed, including that he must always be white, male and heterosexual.

The series is set in a magical world and centers around Roland Deschain, the last living member of a knightly order known as the 'gunslingers'. The work has been described by the author as his magnum opus and has been called King’s answer to Tolkien’s Middle Earth novels.

What The Marvel-Sony Spider-Man Deal Means

By Ed Biggs in Movies / TV / Theatre on 12 February 2015

The landscape has shifted with the agreement, which will see Marvel get to include the web-slinging hero in one of its movies for the first time since 1999.

The implications of Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man deal, which was announced on Monday, are now becoming clearer.

Spider-Man will be included in an upcoming Marvel title for the first time in nearly two decades, and that film is reported to be next year’s Captain America: Civil War.

Variety reported that, in essence, the deal will work out cheaply for both parties. Effectively, neither studio will receive a cut from the proceeds of the other studio’s useage of the Spiderman character in future movies. Without the deal, Disney (which owns Marvel) would have to part with millions in order to use him.

It could yet end happily ever after for 'The Interview', as Netflix secures a deal with Sony Pictures to make the controversial comedy available to its American and Canadian subscribers.

It’s been quite a turnaround for The Interview in the last month. A little over four weeks ago, the Sony picture had been seemingly consigned to the dustbin following the studio’s cancellation of its release in the face of threats from cyberhackers.

But following its resounding success in its limited digital release, the rumoured Netflix deal has come to pass. Late on Tuesday, the online streaming service announced that the comedy would be available to its US and Canadian subscribers.

'Powers' To Be PlayStation 4's First Original TV Series

Sony go all Microsoft with their original content

Sony promised PS4 customers that original TV content would arrive at some point, and we finally know what they’re launching with: ‘Powers’. Sony Pictures TV, a particular branch of Sony Corp., who were involved in shows like Breaking Bad, Hannibal and Master of Sex, are producing.

It’s a fresh and exciting move from Sony, who marketed their next generation console, which has been a selling sensation, on its gaming capabilities. This was in contrast to Microsoft, who billed the Xbox One as an all-purpose entertainment machine. Suffice to say, Sony won the PR battle in the run up to both consoles being released, and now they’re exploiting the other capabilities of the PS4.
