Tobias Jesso Jr. (born July 11th 1985)
Tobias Jesso Jr. is a Canadian musician from North Vancouver, BC. He began his music career as a bassist for the band The Sessions before going on to do the same for pop singer Melissa Cavatti. His debut LP Goon came out in 2015. His sound is often attributed to singer/songwriters of the 1960s and 1970s.
Musical Career: Jesso moved back to his home in Vancouver after living in Los Angeles for four years due to his mother being diagnosed with cancer, which she later recovered from. Here he started playing piano in his spare time and wrote the song 'Just A Dream' - this was the first time he pushed himself to try out singing. One of his demos was later sent via email to former Girls bassist JR White. 2013 saw Tobias go through a painful break-up - later that year in August Jesso's first demo was released. In July 2014 Jesso's next track entitled 'True Love' was released and became Pitchfork's Best New Track. Whilst working on his debut album Jesso got assistance in production from White, Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, John Collins of The New Pornographers, and Ariel Rechtshaid. Exposure increased when Adele and Alana Haim both tweeted about Jesso's song 'How Could You Babe'. Despite not being his first instrument, piano remains the source of Jesso's new music due to him leaving all his other instruments at a storage locker in LA in the rush of the move back home.

The Riptide Movement - Oporto - 12:00
Getting the day off to a low key start is The Riptide Movement at the small but very quaint Oporto bar. The only problem here is that a set from these Dubliners is bound to leave you singing along for the rest of the day ('All Works Out', for example), but it will at least get you geared up for their upcoming debut album 'Getting Through' released on June 1st, which has already been critically acclaimed in Ireland.
