Geri Halliwell Planning To Open Her Own School

The former Spice Girls star is in talks with ministers at Britain's Department for Education about a proposal to set up an education facility in the British capital.

Geri, who is mother to a daughter named Bluebell, reportedly wants to open the free secondary school near her north London home to focus on innovative education techniques.

"I believe in education," she tells British newspaper the Mail on Sunday. "It's an empowering fundamental human right that everyone deserves. Education is a foundation for life."

A statement from the Department for Education reads: "Free schools are giving thousands more children the access to an excellent and innovative education and we welcome applications from all groups interested in setting one up. All applications are rigorously assessed and must meet our high standards before approval can be given."
