As a lifelong fan of Star Wars, getting to direct the new Star Wars film was a dream come trye for Jj Abrams. Here he talks about his latest 'baby' Star Wars: The Force Awakens and explains how when the cast and crew were all ready to shoot in Abu Dhabi after all the prep work was finished and they actually began filming that it was only at that point did the realisation of him making a Star Wars film actually hit him.

Making sure that he really pleased the old fans of the movie was an important part of making the film but rather than try and copy the old George Lucas films, JJ tried to capture the spirit and feeling over individual elements. For JJ, the most important part of the script and story is 'Who is this story going to be about' so he and writer Lawrence Kasdan really focussed on building great characters for the movie.
