Deepwater Horizon is an American disaster film that is based upon the true story of the BP Oil Spill on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico that happened 20th April 2010 claiming the lives of eleven of its employees. Mark Wahlberg is cast as the main protagonist Mike Williams who was the last individual to escape the inferno and this film follows his extraordinary story of how he saved himself and others during the explosion.

The film introduces us in to the life of Williams with his wife (Kate Hudson) and daughter in the life that they led before and after the disaster struck their family. The film celebrates the brave individuals who risked their lives for others and stars Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez and Dylan O'Brien. The director Peter Berg who also directed Lone Survivor captures this catastrophic moment in a visual sensation that really shows how lives' can change forever in an instant.
