Paramount Pictures are considering expanding the 'Transformers' universe and Akiva Goldsman is in negotiations to head up the writing team.

The Transformers universe will be expanding and Paramount, the studios behind the hit films, are in negotiations to hire Akiva Goldsman to head a group of writers to pen a series of Transformers scripts. If Goldsman is hired, he will be working alongside director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg.

The Transformers universe will be expanding in a series of sequels and spin-off movies.

'Transformers: Age Of Extinction' Leads Razzies Nominations

The fourth 'Transformers' movie may have taken over $1 billion at worldwide box offices, but it heads the Golden Raspberry Awards nominations list.

Amongst the praise and back-slapping of awards season, the film industry also shows its less serious side once a year. Just a day ahead of the big Oscars reveal, the Golden Raspberry Awards, a ceremony dedicated to showcasing the very worst of the world of the big screen, has announced its list of nominations, and to nobody’s surprise it’s Transformers: Age of Extinction that leads the field.

The fourth instalment of the hugely successful but critically panned Transformers saga, starring Mark Wahlberg and Megan Fox and directed by Michael Bay, has picked up seven nominations in total. They include worst picture, worst director, worst sequel, worst screenplay, worst screen combo (for any two of the fighting robots), worst supporting actress for Nicola Peltz and worst supporting actor for Kelsey Grammer. The former ‘Frasier’ star was also recognised for his roles in The Expendables 3, Think Like a Man Too and Legends of Oz.

Is This A Joke? Comedian T.J. Miller Joins Michael Bay's 'Transformers 4'

Can Michael Bay regain some of his reputation with Transformers 4?

American comedian T.J. Miller is joining Mark Wahlberg in Michael Bay's Transformers 4, according to industry website The Wrap. The Paramount movie reboots the live-action cast of the franchise, with Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz taking the reins from Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whitely.

Miller will play a blue-collar mechanic who is a long-time friend of Wahlberg's character. The Transformers franchise has been a bit of a joke for a couple of movies now, though Paramount and Michael Bay appear to be making every effort to make the fourth instalment a true return to form. We certainly admire the unusual casting decisions, including the recent acquisition of Kelsey Grammar to play the villain.

Miller is currently shooting Universal and Gold Circle's comedy Search Party and is probably best known for his movies Yogi Bear and She's Out Of My League.

From Psychiatrist To Mayor To Bad Guy – Kesley Grammar Cast As Human Antagonist In Transformers 4

By Jack de Aguilar in Lifestyle / Showbiz on 02 May 2013

Kelsey Grammer Transformers

What do you think of this move?

Eminently likable – if not a bit fussy – Kesley Grammer strayed far from his real life persona in Frasier, much like he did in Cheers. His latest role, the Grammy award winning turn of Major Tom Kane in Boss, has lead to a major Hollywood role for the outspoken, honey-throated actor.

“We’re going to start off smaller. There’s a brand new cast. To freshen the franchise we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom,” explains director Michael Bay. “The history of the first three movies is still there, we start four years later and there’s a reason why we’re meeting a new cast.” Transformers 4 takes place four years after the events that shocked the world in Dark of the Moon, but it’s not a reboot as it continues from where the trilogy left off. With Casting for the fourth installment now underway, Grammer is the fifth actor cast in the last few months. The first official word on casting came when Bay revealed that he would be reuniting with star Mark Wahlberg.

The previous movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, made over $1 billion at the global box office in 2011, so Bay will have a lot to live up to. Some of the new film - opening in theaters on June 27, 2014 - will be shot using the new IMAX 3D cameras, and we can’t wait.

What with Jake Schreier's upcoming movie 'Robot & Frank' scheduled for release in the UK on March 8th 2013 and talks of 'Star Wars: Episode VII' being in the making, we've put together a list of what we think are the best robots that we've ever seen on screen. This is with the exception of cyborgs, human-looking robots, cybernetic organisms and bots from TV programs because, let's face it, we'd be here forever.
