The American Country Music (ACM) Awards took place on Sunday (6th April) in Las Vegas. Amongst the winners were Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and George Strait. Keith Urban also won two awards for his collaborative efforts with Lambert and Tim McGraw.
The American Country Music Awards were held on Sunday in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban won the most awards, two and three respectively, whilst nominees and fan favourites Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton lost out on numerous awards each.
Lambert was struggling to hold her awards at the American Country Music Awards on Sunday (6th April). The singer won three of the large trophies and posed somewhat awkwardly but happily in the press room. The 30-year-old took home the most awards after she won Female Vocalist of the Year, Single Record of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year alongside Keith Urban. Urban was a secretive runner up with two awards as, not only did he collaborate with Lambert for Vocal event, but he also featured (alongside Taylor Swift) in Tim Mcgraw's 'Highway Don't Care' which won Video of the Year.

Nashville Pays Its Respects To The Late George Jones With Star-Studded Concert
By Victoria Pavlova in Music / Festivals on 23 November 2013
The starts of country and the southern music scene all paid their respects to the late icon.
The late, great George Jones was honored this Friday at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena Friday. The night was originally intended to celebrate the country icon’s retirement, but after his death last April, it was held as a sort of posthumous tribute. Billed as 'Playin' Possum: The Final No-Show,' the sold-out concert featured acts ranging from Garth Brooks and GEORGE STRAIT to Kid Rock and MEGADETH, USA Today reports.
"During the funeral, we mourned George; tonight we celebrate," former Grand Ole Opry announcer Keith Bilbrey told the crowd at the start of the show. The performances ran on for over four hours, in order to accommodate the 112 artists, performing in memory of Jones. "Talk about wrangling cats!" Co-host Charlie Chase quipped early on in the show. "Everybody I've talked to says they're going on early," Dierks Bentley said backstage.

CMA And Country Stars Present A Tearful Taylor Swift With The Pinnacle Award
By Victoria Pavlova in Music / Festivals on 07 November 2013
In Ellen's words, congratulations on this wonderful pineapple award!
Last night’s CMAs were definitely surprising in more ways than one – it was a rookies’ night through and through, with first time winners dominating the list, for starters. More than that though, let’s talk about the fate of one emotional blonde lady in particular: Taylor Swift, who surprised everyone by… not winning. We’re as surprised as you are, but everyone’s favorite country girl went somewhat overlooked by the Country Music Association.
Well, that’s not entirely true. Of course Swift received a huge honor when she was announced as the second ever laureate of the Pinnacle award, which is arguably the highest honor bestowed by the Country Music Association, especially considering that Swift is only 23 and just on her fourth studio album. Considering that the only other winner of the Pinnacle Award has been Garth Brooks in 2005… well, you get the picture. It’s a pretty big deal.

Blake Shelton was the big winner of the night, but veteran George Strait took home the top honour
The Country Music Association Awards lit up the Nashville nighttime on Wednesday, 6 November, as 'Country Music's Biggest Night' went off with a bang at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Aired live on ABC last night, the hosts for the evening were once again the ever-reliable Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, who oversaw some memorable moments over the course of the night.

Leading the nominations pack for the 47th annual awards was rising star Kacey Musgraves, who led with six nominations in total. Right behind, with five nominations, was Miranda Lambert, but it was her husband Blake Shelton who finished the night as the biggest winner, taking home two gongs during the ceremony. Officially, it was Taylor Swift who went home with the most awards, although her wins for the Music Event of the Year (shared with Tim Mcgraw and Keith Urban) and the sought-after Pinnacle Award had already being revealed prior to the awards show. She also won (again, sharing with McGraw and Urban) for Music Video of the Year for 'Highway Don't Care.'
