By Ed Biggs in Movies / TV / Theatre on 12 April 2018
Hard to think now, but 'BGT' almost didn't happen after Cowell's disastrous first pitch to Walliams.
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ has long been one of the most successful television shows in Britain, but Simon Cowell has revealed that it nearly didn’t happen at all, saying that he had to pitch the idea to David Walliams twice to get him on board.
Music mogul Cowell and former ‘Little Britain’ actor Walliams are famed for their on-set banter every springtime on ‘BGT’, but their friendship was very far from certain, particularly when Cowell first decided to run the idea for the show past him.
“I think he’s always been un-sackable,” Cowell said when he was interview on ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday morning (April 12th).

Walliams spoke to Jonathan Ross in a new TV interview.
David Walliams has claimed that celebrities and people working in the entertainment industry are “over-rewarded”.
The former ‘Little Britain’ star and current ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge was interviewed this week for ‘The Jonathan Ross’ show on ITV, and spoke about the recent OBE he received at Buckingham Palace.
“It was really lovely meeting people from other walks of life who genuinely deserve it because we are over-rewarded in showbusiness,” he said, saying that people who have dedicated their lives to charity work or done pioneering work in medicine were “very inspiring” in comparison to celebrities.

Walliams dressed as the North Korean dictator for Jonathan Ross' Halloween party - and it sparked outrage on Twitter.
David Walliams has sparked accusations of racism over his choice of Halloween costume this year, when the comedian dressed as North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un.
The 46 year old British star posted a photo of himself on Twitter on Tuesday evening before he turned up at Jonathan Ross’ annual Halloween party in north London. He was dressed in a black suit – all well and good – but also with apparent facial prosthetics to alter his eyelids as well as a wig that changed his hairline.
“Happy Halloween from Kim Jong-un,” it was captioned. The image immediately caused a backlash, with some of his followers accusing him of ‘yellow-face’ and ‘racism’.

David Walliams and Dannii Minogue were involved in a rather bemusing on-air exchange on BBC Radio 2 this morning, as Walliams said the former ‘X Factor’ judge once booty-called him for late-night sex.

Judge Dixon referred to one act as "sexy chocolate men" on Wednesday night's semi-final, and was also criticised for pressing other judges' buzzers.
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ viewers on social media are calling for judge Alesha Dixon to be kicked off the panel after she described one act on the show as “sexy chocolate men” on Wednesday night's semi-final.
The 37 year old singer, formerly of noughties girl group Mis-Teeq, made the remark while praising the opera group Vox Fortura after they gave a rendition of David Bowie’s ‘”Heroes”’. Four sexy chocolate men,” she said as they finished, “with amazing voices, polished to perfection. That was sensational.”
